About Us

My name is Travis Thomas, and golf has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I first picked up a club when I was about five years old—a cut-down 7-iron my dad customized just for me. I can still remember the first time I hit a golf ball 75 yards.

There was a driving range not too far away from where we lived, with targets made of railroad ties arranged in circles at various distances. Watching my ball soar through the air and land in the 75-yard circle was an unforgettable moment. That was when I knew I wanted to be a golfer.

I played golf in high school and after graduation, joined the local junior college team and performed well.  Later, I decided to take a shot at playing for UNLV but after one semester, I realized that a traditional four-year college wasn’t for me. I ended up working at a golf course, where I played and practiced daily. Eventually, I turned professional and competed on the mini tours for many years. While I never made it to the top, I always felt that I was close.

During all those hours of practice, I struggled with alignment and feeling comfortable over the ball. Hitting countless shots off mats at the range, I noticed I was constantly moving the mat to be in line with where I was aiming. This is what sparked my idea - why not make mats round?!  I decided to solve the problem and "Make It Ring".
